What are Deeper Ways to Address Weight Loss Resistance? by Dr. Pamela Smith

Weight loss resistance is rarely about willpower alone. When the body

resists weight loss despite healthy eating and regular exercise, it’s

often a sign of deeper hormonal and metabolic imbalances. Elevated

insulin levels, thyroid dysfunction, chronic stress, poor sleep, and

inflammation can all keep the body in fat-storage mode. For many

women, perimenopause & menopause further complicate weight loss as

shifting estrogen levels affect insulin sensitivity and metabolism.

Addressing weight loss resistance means looking beyond calories to

assess hormones, blood sugar regulation, nutrient deficiencies, gut

health, and nervous system balance. Sustainable results come from

personalized care that may include targeted nutrition, strength

training, stress reduction, sleep optimization, supplements, and, when

appropriate, hormone support. When the root causes are identified and

treated, the body can finally respond, energy improves, cravings

settle, and weight loss becomes achievable and maintainable.
